Seasons: mountains

laurenmarcia:

I have been stuck in Romans 4:17 for a few weeks now and every day receive a deeper revelation of it’s meaning.

"God gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist."

The things created and called into existence by Him go beyond what my mind can comprehend or…

AMEN!

erick daniel: Will You Receive It?

erickvdaniel:

If there’s something in your life that you’re still holding onto (sin), a doubt, a lie, whatever it may be. Have you laid it on the altar and given it to God? If so, then why are you still going back to it!? Why do you cling so hard to this thing that keeps you from intimacy with your true love…

This song. Can’t get enough.

SUITCASES

“You can’t run when you’re holding suitcases.”

I heard this quote recently from a pastor and I think it’s the perfect analogy for what the Lord has been teaching me lately.

Whenever I think of suitcases I think of airports and traveling. Airports are full of two kinds of people: those early birds who arrive five hours before their flight and those late birds who arrive 25 minutes before boarding. The latter is our family. Somehow we never could make it to the airport on time and we end up having to run like a little boy who just upset a swarm of bees.

Now imagine running like that with a couple of heavy loaded suitcases attached to you. It’s no easy business guys. Especially when your suitcase on wheels decides to do a 180 flip every time you run over a little crack….

You can also imagine someone walking in life with these big suitcases and they’re bursting at the seams and attempting to move, but as they’re walking, the suitcase flies open and this picture of an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend flies out or a metaphoric blanket of sorts like fears, hurts or rejection of the past.

This is a reminder to me why baggage is there and what it represents.

I’ve held onto things in the past before and held unto it almost like it was treasure. I didnt realize that the point of baggage is to slow us down and to keep us in a place where we can’t fully operate in the things God has called us to do.

We have to remember that we cannot run when we’re holding on to suitcases. We need to drop them and let them go and just run and move forward and never look back at the baggage from the past because we’re free from it…. Romans says that we are no longer slaves to sin. We are free.

We need to be heeding Paul’s words in Hebrews 12:1 when he says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”

Your Turn:

Is there anything that is hindering or tripping you up in running the race that God has set before you?

The sin that so easily entangles you (suitcases) can be things like watching things that are not pleasing to God, holding on to unforgiveness, jealousies, insecurities, unconfessed sin… All of these things will keep you from effectively running the race and from fullfilling the calling that God has placed on your life.

Sometimes God is just waiting till you simply lose and drop those suitcases in your life. He’s waiting till you are fully surrendered unto Him in order for Him to say… “Aha, now I can finally use you for my Kindgom my son or daughter.”

Ask God to help you lose those suitcases in your life and watch as He then uses you in the most amazing way for His Kingdom.

Seasons: the danger of distance

laurenmarcia:

In Mark 9 Jesus allowed Peter access to all of His exaltation and glory as He was transfigured before him. It says that Jesus’ clothes became “radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them.” Peter had the ultimate mountaintop experience as he witnessed with his own eyes the power…

Sleeping At Last

—Turning Page

Perfect song on a rainy day. Love this music.

“Oh that every season would be my favorite. That I would look back on life and feel overwhelmed by the goodness of God … Life is moving, always, may we get into the flow of the beauty of it. That we would trade in our heaviness for a weightless grace to love deep.” -M.H.

Seasons: LOST DONKEYS

laurenmarcia:

Yesterday as I was doing my deovtions I came across an interesting portion of scripture in 1 Samuel chapter 9. Chapters eight and nine speak of the Israelites’ desire to be like their surrounding nations; they wanted a king to rule over them. In chapter nine, God gives them their desire by…
